Our Project on Uganda - by ND, 5th class, Ms. O' Donovan
5th class did a project on Uganda for the Irish Aid Awards. We came in the top 100 and received a plaque for our school. We got most of our information from a video we watched We learned about the animals, the people, the schools and other interesting facts. Some animals that you would find in Uganda are eagles, gorillas, monkeys, elephants, crocodiles and things like that. Uganda is on the Equator so it is very warm there and people have dark skin. The classrooms are very small but Ugandan children learn songs like us. The children’s toys are mostly made of wood. The clothes that people wear in Uganda are mostly from charities. When the children go to the well to get water they have to carry the buckets on their heads. English is learned in schools but the children don’t wear uniforms. Mountain gorillas are in Uganda. There are many fields in Uganda. People die around the age of forty which is much younger than Irish people. A house can hold 12 or more people. Around one tenth of babies born die. Uganda is in Africa. We learned a lot of things about Uganda.
